WHERE ARE THE DEAD?

From the answer of this question will depend almost everything in your life. There is NOT available any proof about what happens when somebody dies. But there is a crying necessity to answer this question.

When I was 7 years old, I saw a coffin, and I asked my mum what it is. She explained me. I was shocked to tears and I asked her and my dad my next question, still crying: Why am I born, if I have to die? My Dad said: enough stupid questions for tonight. Socrates once said: I do not know where are the dead, but when I die, my ignorance will cease. As my friend Michael said: well, will it cease, because Socrates will learn immediately after he dies, or will it cease, because Socrates' existence will cease? When you walk in the graveyard, you see thousands of people lying there. Everyone with his or her own life history, never to be repeated. How happy you are that you can still watch the starry sky, hear the birds, smell the roses...

Really what is the meaning of the life if one day you have to die and disappear? For what reason will you endure the hardships of this life, if despite all your struggles, the grave is the end? Some people put this question on the back of their minds, and with levity conclude: Let me have a fun today, tomorrow will see...The Bible reflects their kind of thinking: Isaiah 22:13 And behold joy and gladness, slaying oxen, and killing sheep, eating flesh, and drinking wine: let us eat and drink; for to morrow we shall die. This is why I am saying that your belief about where are the dead will determine almost everything in your life, even your behaviour and moral values. If you believe that there is nothing, the best is really to eat and drink as much as we can.

What the Bible says?

Job 7:9 As the cloud is consumed and vanisheth away: so he that goeth down to the grave shall come up no more

Job 16:22 When a few years are come, then I shall go the way whence I shall not return.

Psalms146:3 Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help. 4His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts perish.

You will not return, you will not come up, and your thoughts will perish. Total destruction of personality: no more thoughts, no more emotions, nothing.

Ecclesiastes9:5 For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten. 6Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion for ever in any thing that is done under the sun.

Some people believe, that the dead are with God, praising Him... The Bible says:

Psalms 6:5 For in death there is no remembrance of thee: in the grave who shall give thee thanks?

Man is mortal, not immortal, only God is immortal

Job4:17 Can a mortal be more righteous than God?

Romans 6:12 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires.

1Tim6:15 God, the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings and Lord of lords,  16 who alone is immortal and who lives in unapproachable light, whom no one has seen or can see. To him be honor and might forever. Amen.

The Doctrine of the immortality of the soul is widely popular...

As you can see on the pic, 3500 years ago in Egypt they believed in the immortality of the soul. Pyramids are witnessing their belief till today. Modern day satanists and spiritists also believe that the soul is immortal and that there is a life after death. They claim to communicate with the dead, but actually they got the wrong number. On the other side of the line are not the dead, (the dead 'know nothing') but satan and his demons. This is why God is so strict in forbidding any contact with the dead, because we will be always dialing the wrong number...

The Bible calls death sleep. Why this is such an appropriate comparison?

When you sleep you are not conscious. This is why the question: 'Are you sleeping?' which your wife is asking you after she harangues you with long talk, can never be answered positively. Sleeping has 3 important points - 1. Falling asleep, 2. Sleeping, 3. Awakening. The Bible is using widely this excellent symbol in both the Old and the New Testament:

1Kings2:10 Then David rested with his fathers and was buried in the City of David

Jesus is using the same comparison when talks about the death of Lazarus:

John11:11 Our friend Lazarus sleepeth; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep.12Then said his disciples, Lord, if he sleep, he shall do well. 13 Howbeit Jesus spake of his death: but they thought that he had spoken of taking of rest in sleep. 14Then said Jesus unto them plainly, Lazarus is dead.

21Then said Martha unto Jesus, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died. 23 Jesus saith unto her, Thy brother shall rise again. 24Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day.

She expresses perfect theology. She knows that the dead rise 'At the last Day'. Actually where in the Bible is talking about the rising of the dead? One example:

Dan12:2And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.

Then Jesus goes to the grave of Lazarus and orders that the stone will be removed. The unbelief of Martha provides us with perfect proof that the whole story is not well forged theatre, but a real death. Lazarus already starts to decompose.

John11:39 Jesus said, Take ye away the stone. Martha, the sister of him that was dead, saith unto him, Lord, by this time he stinketh: for he hath been dead four days.

Jesus calls Lazarus out of the grave...Mark well: Out of the grave, not down from heaven, or up from hell. 43 he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth.  And Lazarus rises from the dead. The absolutely same thing will happen when Jesus comes again. 1Thess4:16,For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

The righteous dead (dead in Christ) 'rise'. They don't descend from heaven as Jesus does. So they are in their graves 'sleeping' until Jesus wakes them up with His own voice.

John 5:25 the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live
